Port Pride, Cambridge Carnival, and Saints Cosmos and Damian Festival: Expect traffic and road closures September 9 to 11

Several roads in Cambridge will close for community events between Friday, September 9, and Sunday, September 11. Expect traffic impacts in East Cambridge, the Port, Riverside, and Central Square. 

The 97th Annual Saints Cosmas and Damian Festival will take place Friday, September 9 through Sunday, September 11. The festival takes place in East Cambridge, primarily on Warren Street, Macarelli Way, and Porter Street. Road closures will begin Thursday evening, September 8. On Saturday, September 10, the festival expands to include a closure of Cambridge Street between Cardinal Medieros Avenue and Windsor Street. The festival also includes several processionals around East Cambridge and Somerville over the course of the weekend. Expect traffic impacts around East Cambridge.

The 18th Annual Port Pride Day will take place on Saturday, September 10 in the Port. Sponsored by the Margaret Fuller House, the event takes place in and around Clement Morgan Park and the Margaret Fuller House. Columbia Street will close between Bishop Allen Drive and Washington Street, Pine Street will close between School Street and Washington Street, and Easton Street will close between Pine Street and Cherry Streets.

The 28th Cambridge Carnival International parade and festival will take place on Sunday, September 11, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The parade starts on Blackstone Street at 12:30 p.m., proceeds down River Street to Central Square, turns right on Massachusetts Avenue, and continues to Sidney Street. The festival will take place on Sidney Street between Massachusetts Avenue and Pacific Street. The parade route will be closed between noon and 3 p.m. Sidney Street and adjacent blocks of Green Street, Franklin Street, and Pilgrim Street will remain closed from Sunday morning through Sunday evening. Expect traffic impacts in the neighborhoods of Riverside, Cambridgeport, and Central Square.

At each of these events, any public drinking and/or smoking of marijuana will not be tolerated (unless permitted in designated areas) and will be strictly enforced.
