This week 42 Student Officers officially began their law enforcement career as part of the Cambridge-Northeastern Police Academy. Now in it’s eighth class, the Cambridge-Northeastern Police Academy is a collaboration between both departments with support from other agencies. The academy is authorized by the Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) to provide recruit level training for officers looking to work in municipal or university settings.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Christine Elow have confirmed that Victor Rivas, 51, of South Boston has been arrested and charged with assault and battery, dangerous weapon resulting in serious bodily injury following a fatal stabbing that occurred last night inside of a residential building on Norfolk Street in Cambridge.
Property owners/residents are responsible for removing all snow and ice from sidewalks and accessible ramps next to their property following a storm per City Ordinance. Ice needs to be removed within 6 hours from the time it forms, and snow needs to be removed within 12 hours after snow stops falling during the day and before 1 p.m. if it snowed during the night, per City Ordinance.
