Plans: post

In an effort to make the heating source at the Graham and Parks School more energy efficient, the school will be converting from oil to natural gas. Take a look at the benefits of this conversion:

  • New gas equipment is more efficient, the City will use less energy and save money on heating costs. We’ll get rid of the oil tank, and all its associated hazards and liabilities. No more worrying about fuel deliveries – we’ll have a constant supply of energy to the school.
  • Natural gas is the cleanest burning fossil fuel – it produces no soot or fumes. Converting also reduces emissions that deplete the ozone and contribute to respiratory illnesses like asthma.
  • Natural gas can do more than heat the school building. It can also be used for water heating as well.
  • Cleaner heating equipment means less maintenance and repairs to the system. With gas heating equipment, the City can save on maintenance costs year in and year out.

In addition to the conversion from oil to gas, we will be construction ADA accessible entrances and access to both the front entry and rear schoolyard. The improvements to the schools front entrance include the removal and replacement of concrete pavement, a new concrete ramp and stair system, new brick veneer masonry walls and the installation of concrete units paves to replace the existing bluestone paving. Improvements to the back school yard include the demolition of existing stairs and landings, and the construction of new concrete walls, ramps, and stair systems.

Lastly, there will be some improvements made to the playground.
