Green Communities Energy Reduction Goal

Governor Patrick recognizes Cambridge as a Green Community

Cambridge achieves Green Community 20% energy reduction!

The City has taken significant steps toward reducing energy use through building efficiency projects, greening the vehicle fleet, and employee education programs.

As one of the Commonwealth’s first Green Communities, Cambridge committed to reducing energy consumption by 20% in five years from an FY08 baseline inventory.

In December 2014, Governor Deval Patrick (in photo) honored Cambridge and six other communities for achieving their 20% reduction goals.

In FY16, Cambridge achieved an energy consumption reduction of over 25% vs. the FY08 baseline.
