Public Works Congratulates Recycling Director Randi Mail on Beginning of New Chapter

Since 2002, Randi Mail has served as the Recycling Director for the City of Cambridge. After nearly 14 years, Randi has chosen to leave the City to begin a new chapter in her life and pursue new opportunities.

During Randi’s tenure, trash collected by the City dropped by over 30%. This achievement was supported by major program initiatives including expanded curbside single stream recycling in 2010, launched curbside organics collection to 5000+ households in October 2015, and increasing the number of public area recycling bins on streets in the City by more than 950%. The success of the recycling program under Randi’s leadership was made possible by effective partnerships with local non-profits, City Departments, the Cambridge Public Schools, the Recycling Advisory Committee and other dedicated volunteers, state agencies and vendors.

“Working at Cambridge DPW has been an incredible experience and I will cherish being part of such a proud organization and amazing community,” said Mail. “I will undoubtedly miss working with my talented staff, colleagues, members of the Recycling Advisory Committee, and program partners. I’m tremendously proud of the things we’ve accomplished to improve and expand our recycling and waste reduction programs!”

Public Works and the City would like to congratulate Randi on all of her accomplishments and wish her the best.

“I want to thank Randi for her service to the City and the Cambridge community,” said Owen O’Riordan, Commissioner of Public Works. “We wish her the very best and know she will be successful in whatever she decides to do next!”
