Update on Eversource Gas Line Installation

Gas work on Jay St., Perry St., Fairfield St. and Whittier St. will be completed within the next week.

Work will now begin on Huron Ave. (Newell St to Raymond St) to upgrade the natural gas main and services on Huron Ave. Weather permitting, Eversource Gas Main Construction will begin construction on Wednesday, February 28th, 2018, work hours will be from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Work is also scheduled to begin on Park Ave (Holworthy St. to #68 Park Ave) on Tuesday, March 6th, 2018.  Please anticipate that the specific areas to be worked will be posted with no parking signs as needed, access to these streets will remain open to abutters, Cambridge Police Officers’ will be on site to assist with the pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Weather dependent, the proposed work is projected to take approximately 4-6 weeks and subject to be worked and completed in segments.

We understand the inconvenience this may cause, and will make necessary efforts to minimize any interruption to your gas services. In order to alleviate possible parking issues and ensure a safe working zone, we will remove snow from the street following any snow storm, etc. Depending on the existing conditions at your residence or business our work may involve moving natural gas meters outside, replacing your existing gas service line, and installing curb valves at the street. There may also be other upgrades required to ensure the safe and most efficient operation of the natural gas distribution system.

Upon completion of the construction process, paved or cemented areas, which were disturbed, will be permanently repaired with material similar to what was removed.
