Weekly Construction Highlights

Construction for the week of April 14, 2014

Broadway Improvements (Third Street to Ames Street)
The contractor will resume work in spring 2014.

Broadway Reconstruction Project (Portland Street to Prospect Street)
This week, crews will be on Moore Street working on catchbasins, and a leaky fire hydrant. Full-depth reconstruction on Moore Street is scheduled to take place the week of April 14, 2014.

Cambridge Street Tunnel
Due to poor weather conditions, the contractor has seized work indefinitely.

Concord Ave Project
There will be several crews onsite this week. Once crew continues to provide tree protection in the area in advance of construction activity. There will be two NSTAR Gas crews onsite this week. One crew will be on Fayerweather Street and another crew will be on Concord Avenue updating the 12" gas main. The last crew is working on the water services on Concord Avenue.

Huron A Project 
There will be two crews in the area this week. The first crew continues to work on the water main on Huron Avenue from Gurney Street to Standish Street. The other crew is working on illicit surveys in the area. Weather permitting, sidewalk work is scheduled to begin on April 17 on Grozier Road.

Huron B Project
During the week of March 31, several crews will be onsite in the Huron B area. Two crews are performing drain and sewer work on Huron Avenue at Fayerweather Street and Huron Avenue at Reservoir Street. Another crew is on Walden Street performing drain and sewer work. The last crew is mobilizing to Chilton Street.

Fawcett Street
Crews continue to perform sidewalk work on Fawcett Street from the bend to Smith Place.

Irving Street/Scott Street Construction
The City's contractor continues to construction the raised intersection at Farrar St./Scott St./Irving St. Portions of the roadway will be closed. Click here to view the official notice.

Murray Hill Road
Crews are expected to complete the sidewalk work on Murray Hill road this week.

Western Ave Reconstruction Project
This week there will be several crews onsite. One crew will be performing full-depth reconstruction at the Green Street intersection. The second crews is installing catch basins near the Green Street intersection. The third crew is performing sewer work at the Kinnaird Street intersection. Later this week, the third crew will begin to replace the sewer line (75 feet) on Kinnaird Street, traveling north towards Putnam Avenue. The last crew is performing water work on Kinnaird Street, Franklin Street and Pleasant Street.

Traffic Impacts: Crews are currently performing sewer work at the intersection of Kinnaird Street and Western Avenue. Due to the scope of work, motorists will not be permitted to take a right turn from Western Avenue onto Kinnaird Street for 3 weeks during general work hours (Monday –Friday, 7am-4pm). Pedestrians may also be detoured at the intersection.
