New parking violation for obstructing bicycle lane

caution sign The information on this page may be outdated as it was published 9 years ago.

Effective May 20, 2014, a new parking violation, “Obstructing Bicycle Lane”, with a fine of $35 went into effect.  In the past, vehicles obstructing a bicycle lane were ticketed for double parking, no stopping, or being parked more than 1’ from the curb.  The new violation calls attention to the importance of keeping the bike lanes open. We hope this makes it easier for staff to enforce and adjudicate tickets. It should bring increased attention to the importance of keeping bike lanes open.
