Bicycle Use Has Tripled

Bicycling is by far the fastest-growing mode of transportation in Cambridge. The City has 24 miles of bike facilities and that number continues to grow.

The Department has installed a permanent count station on Hampshire Street at Cardinal Medeiros Street. We are seeing high bike use even in the winter months on this busy corridor. Bike count data is available in our Open Data section.

Hubway Bike Share

The Hubway is an excellent way to get around when you don't have your bike with you. Hubway members can share bikes at stations in Cambridge, Boston, Somerville and Brookline. Learn more about Hubway here.

The Traffic, Parking & Transportation Department in partnership with the Community Development Department, and the Public Works Department, we are constantly looking to create new bike facilities, lane markings, signs, signals and other infrastructure in support of safe cycling.
