Two Alarms on Broadway

Two alarms, Box 2-2812, were ordered for the fire at 261 Broadway, a 2-story, wood-frame, duplex multiple residence. Rapid, aggressive attack by the assigned companies quickly contained & knocked down the fire which had extended into the ceiling of floor 2 and into cockloft which involved much overhauling of the insulated cockloft. 
Firefighters from 6 engines, 4 ladders, the rescue, 3 squads, & command & support units worked at the fire.
One resident was evaluated for injury but refused transport. Eleven people were displaced by the fire.
The cause will be under investigation.
Time of the first alarm: 759 p.m.

Thank you again to the support from our public safety partners, the officers of Cambridge Police for providing traffic diversion & safety; the EMTs and Medics of PRO EMS for the assist; Boston Sparks Assocation for faithfully assisting with the Rehab Unit response; and special thank you to the staff of Cambridge Emergency Communications for professionally & cooly coordinating the dispatching & radio traffic during a very busy day & night (25 April 2024), indcluding several fires & numerous other incidents.
