Youth Services
Our amazing children’s librarians can be found spreading library services to youth throughout the city. Children’s librarians regularly visit local Head Starts, preschools, elementary schools, after school programs, summer camps, parks, city-wide festivals and more! Call us (617-349-4409) to arrange a visit.
Youth Services
Every newborn Cantabrigian receives a gift bag with age-appropriate books -- as well as information for parents and caregivers about the importance of sharing books with infants and a gift coupon. Bring your baby to visit the library and we'll exchange the coupon for a special book.

Main Library Children's Room
We are proud of our popular treetop Children’s Room. Cantabrigians value it as the only main library space carefully designed around the unique requirements of children and their families. It is Cambridge Public Library policy to preserve the Children’s Room for use by children, their caregivers, and those actively using the children’s collection. Beginning on April 2nd, children will be defined as 13 and younger. Thank you for your cooperation.
Nestled in the treetops of Cambridge, the new Children’s Room on the top floor of the Main Library will captivate, inspire and challenge kids of all ages. There’s always something going on!
We offer music and story programs for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers; activities and book discussion groups for school-aged kids; special events for families; programs for parents and caregivers, and much more. Check the Upcoming Events below to find out what's happening this week.
We provide a rich children’s collection including books, magazines, music, movies, audio books, games, materials in other languages, resources for parents and child care providers, reference books, databases and computer stations. Stop by to sign up for a library card if you have not already done so.
Call and arrange a group visit to the library--or have the library come to you! Children’s librarians are available by appointment to visit classes, preschools and youth groups to provide information, library cards, book sharing, storytelling and more.
The Children’s Room serves kids of all ages as well as parents, caregivers, educators, librarians and other children’s literature scholars and enthusiasts. We’ll see you soon!
