A Parks Permit is intended for Cambridge residents using parks and public areas for small (non-athletic) events such as birthday parties, picnics, etc. with no grilling/cooking, alcohol, amusement rides, animals, fireworks, live music, etc. In most instances, the permit is secured in order to reserve table & seating areas. The park still remains open to the public.

Public Works mechanically sweeps each street in Cambridge once per month, April through December (weather permitting). Signs are posted on each residential street indicating when they will be swept and the schedule.

Public Works provides weekly curbside pickup of household trash, as well as weekly pickup of household recycling and yard waste by a private contractor. Yard waste is collected April 1st through the second full week of December. The City is divided into five districts, to provide these services throughout the City on a five-day week, Monday through Friday.

The Recycling Center is open to Cambridge residents only and small businesses and non-profit organizations in Cambridge with 50 employees or fewer. Use of the Center is free of charge. It is located at 147 Hampshire Street in the back right corner of the Public Works' yard. We are open: Tuesdays & Thursdays: 4:00pm - 7:30pm and Saturdays: 9:00am - 4:00pm.
