The Inspectional Services Department manages building permit applications that may require pre-approval from the Fire Department located at 491 Broadway. In such cases, you will receive a message with instructions.
Most projects are usually handled during the Fire Prevention Offices' counter hours of 8-10 AM and 2-3 PM, Monday thru Friday, excluding holidays. Please note that large projects require an appointment.* Be sure to bring a hard copy of your plans with you. The fee is $75.00 ($200.00 for ground up high rise projects), cash or check made out to the City of Cambridge. Credit Cards are not accepted at this time.
