Assessing Department

The Assessing Department maintains an extensive database of property information. Some of this information is available online in the Property Database. More in-depth information is available to the public at reasonable or no cost. This information is as current as possible regarding ownership and sales history. Property characteristics and assessments are as of January 1, 2012 for the Fiscal Year 2013 tax bills. Standard reports are available for purchase or for viewing at the Assessing Department's Office in City Hall. The reports can be provided either in paper or computer readable format. 2013 Property Tax Information

In 2012, the City’s excess levy capacity increased, actual revenues exceeded projections, the total assessed value of property in Cambridge increased and our free cash position remained strong.

FY13 Property Tax Information

 

The City of Cambridge offers a residential exemption to property that serves as a property owner’s principal residence. To be eligible, the owner must own and occupy their property as their principal residence on January 1, 2012 shown on 2011 Massachusetts Income Tax.Re
