Description

The 8th concert in the Composer Focus series will feature music by Philip Glass. Glass is a prolific composer of symphonies, operas, string quartets, concertos, works for dance and theatre, and film scores (including those written for Koyaanisqatsi, The Hours, and The Truman Show). His music has often been described as "minimalist", as it builds on repetitive rhythmic cells to create emotional powerful and hypnotic musical structures. This program will include his reflective Metamorphosis for solo piano and the passionate String Quartet No. 4 ("Buczak"), composed as a memorial to the composer's friend, artist Brian Buczak.
