Description

Einstein redefined energy, making it a central concern of our culture. Barry Lord's new book, Art & Energy: How Culture Changes (The AAM Press), shows how each energy source brings with it certain values that characterize the cultures that depend on them. While the book, published by the American Alliance of Museums, traces these changes from the mastery of fire forward, Mr. Lord’s talk will focus on the current energy mix and the cultural values at stake, especially the conflict between the still dominant culture of consumption that accompanied oil and gas, and the incoming culture of stewardship that renewable energy implies.
