PARK(ing) Day Open House: Tuesday, April 24, 2018

Join the City of Cambridge as we aim for the largest PARK(ing) Day celebration in the world and turn over 120 parking spots into fun, engaging spaces for the day! Drop in at any point between 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and learn how to participate in PARK(ing) Day 2018.

What is PARK(ing) Day?

The Cambridge Community Development Department (CDD) seeks creative people, organizations, businesses, students, and institutions to participate in the official City of Cambridge PARK(ing) Day celebration, an international event in which metered parking spaces are transformed into “parks” for a day. Previous years have brought many creative ideas, including: gymnastics studios, bicycle-powered smoothie cafes, living rooms, dance floors, parks, nature preserves, game rooms, dog parks, libraries, bike lanes, and concerts.

The mission of PARK(ing) Day is to call attention to the need for more urban open space, to generate critical debate around how public space is created and allocated, and to improve the quality of urban human habitat … at least until the meter runs out!
