Five-Year Consolidated Plan Public Comment:

NEEDS ASSESMENT for NON-HOUSING ACTIVITIES FUNDED BY CDBG & ESG GRANTS

On Thursday, January 22nd, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. the Community Development Department will hold a public hearing in preparation of the City’s Five-Year Consolidated Plan (FY2016-2020) for the utilization of federal funding for anticipated activities that primarily benefit low and moderate income residents. This requirement of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) combines the funding applications for the Community Development Block Grant Program and the Emergency Solutions Grant programs.

The purpose of the hearing is to solicit public comments on community development needs as they relate to low and moderate-income Cambridge residents in the areas of economic development, public infrastructure and public services. The City will also be holding its second AFFORDABLE HOUSING focused open comment hearing on Thursday, February 19th. The Five-Year Consolidated Plan is used to identify present and anticipated needs over the Five-Year period beginning July 1, 2015 and ending June 30, 2020. The Plan will enumerate resources, opportunities and community development needs as they relate to the Goals established by Cambridge’s City Council.

ALL INTERESTED PARTIES INCLUDING RESIDENTS AND SERVICE PROVIDERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND.

The Public Hearing will be held in the 2nd Floor Conference Room at City Hall Annex, 344 Broadway, Cambridge, MA. The hearing site is handicap accessible and translation services will be available upon request. Written comments will also be accepted (until April 15th, 2015) in-person at the hearing, by mail, or by email.
