Description

For the centerpiece of this concert, Michael Tippett’s powerful oratorio A Child of our Time, the CSO welcomes back acclaimed soprano Indra Thomas, renowned mezzo-soprano Joanna Porackova, and tenor Ray Bauwens, and welcomes baritone Ron Loyd, plus the New England Conservatory (NEC) Youth Chorale and NEC Concert Choir directed by Jonathan Richter.

Written in response to Nazi oppression in prewar Germany, Tippett integrates the music of African-American spirituals into his universal cry for peace and healing.

The CSO also performs William Walton’s triumphant march Crown Imperial and George Gershwin’s irresistible tone poem An American In Paris.

Tickets are available now at http://www.cambridgsymphony.org.
