Cambridge Mayor, the Honorable E. Denise Simmons, will host a Black History Month celebration on Thursday, February 25, in the Sullivan Chamber of Cambridge City Hall. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m., refreshments in the second floor lobby. 

The keynote speech will be given by Bishop Brian Greene of the Cambridge Pentecostal Tabernacle Church. The evening will feature several performances. Artist, activist, educator and mother, Ms. Nedelka Prescod will perform “A City Called Heaven” and Nina Simone’s “I wish how I knew how it meant to be free.” 

Award winning slam poet, Neiel Israel will perform, “When a Black Man Walks.” 

The event is free and open to the public.
