    • Morning Sing-Along (Main)

      It's a Library dance party! All ages. This program can accommodate 130 people. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis on the day of the program. The entire party must be present to receive a ticket. This program starts promptly, and any unclaimed seats will be offered to someone waiting. We appreciate your patience and understanding.     • 3D Printing 101: Game Piece Design

      Learn how to create your favorite game piece in digital space and print it out using our Prusa 3D printers. Before taking this workshop: Complete Hive Safety Training Create a free Tinkercad account at www.tinkercad.com You will get hands-on experience running the 3D printer, gain fundamental 3D modeling skills using Tinkercad, and earn your 3D Printing badge for future reservations in The Hive. Create a Tinkercad account at www.tinkercad.com prior to arriving. Parents may need to assist users under the age of 18 to create an account prior to arriving. You must complete Hive Safety Training before registering for this workshop.

      Have you checked out The Hive yet? Teens are welcome to come learn about our space and try their hand at sticker making, video recording in our studio and more.       Join our Nintendo Switch party! We'll have two multiplayer games available to play on our library consoles. This program is for ages 7-9. This program can accommodate 16 gamers.       Continue building your machine-sewing skills AND receive support as you work on your own sewing projects with our Library sewing community. Participants must register but may drop-in any time during the program. This program is designed for patrons who know the basics of how to use our Janome sewing machines.

    • CPL Presents: Neel Mukherjee, author of CHOICE

      Main Library, Lecture Hall, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

      Join NEEL MUKHERJEE, author of the Man Booker Prize-nominated novel The Lives of Others, for a reading from, and conversation about, his new novel Choice. A Professor of English at Harvard, Mukherjee has been called “one of the most original and talented authors working today” (NPR) and, in a pre-publication blurb, Tracy K. Smith called Choice “searing, poetic and beautifully brutal.” The novel is composed of three thematically linked sections, across which Mukherjee “showcases his ability to inhabit different perspectives” (Booklist). This event will be moderated by GRACE TALUSAN, author of the award-winning memoir, The Body Papers. Registration is required.

    • Science Fiction & Fantasy Book Group (Main)

      This Month's Read: Babel, by R.F. Kuang Reading Interests: The group concentrates on science fiction and fantasy. An advanced reading schedule is published each fall. Example selections include: Neuromancer by William Gibson and The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch. Requirements: A love of speculative fiction and a desire to talk about books. The group is friendly and informal. How to get the print book: Copies of the print book are set aside at the Main Library Question and Answer desk on the ground floor. Visit the Main Library at 449 Broadway during service hours and a staff member can help you check out a copy. E-books and digital audiobooks are available on Libby or Hoopla.
