Cambridge will mark the 5th anniversary of the Walk/Ride Day program on Friday, March 25, from 11 a.m. - Noon, at Cambridge City Hall, Sullivan Chamber 795 Massachusetts Ave.

Everyone who lives, works or studies in Cambridge is invited to "wear green and go green" and join Cambridge Mayor David P. Maher, Cambridge Postmaster Kathy Lydon, Green Streets Executive Director Janie Katz-Christy and TROMP for an awards ceremony and refreshments in the Sullivan Chamber of Cambridge City Hall.

The winners of the 2011 Best Shoveled Block Contest will be honored along with several volunteers coordinators who have been bringing Walk/Ride Day programming to Cambridge public and private schools since the first Walk/Ride Day in March 2006.  Mimi Rancatore, owner of Toscanini's Ice cream will accept a Walk/Ride Day Sponsor award. Toscannini's has been a Walk/Ride Day sponsor since 2006, inspiring a network of local businesses to offer discounts and other goodies to Walk/Ride Day participants. Toscanini's has inspired many local residents to participate by offering their signature "free mini scoop" of ice cream to all participants on Walk/Ride Days.

Remember: Wear green, go green (walk, ride, carpool or take public transportation to work) and get rewarded on Walk/Ride Day, the last Friday of every month.
