Craigie Drawbridge Route 28 Southbound Travel Lanes to Reopen April 26
Effective Tuesday, April 26, at 7 a.m., MassDOT will reopen the two inbound travel lanes on Route 28 southbound at the intersection of Land Blvd. in Cambridge. The southbound (inbound) lanes were closed in January as part of Phase II of the Craigie Drawbridge Rehabilitation Project and are reopening in keeping with the original schedule. The Charles River Channel will also reopen to all marine traffic on Tuesday, April 26 at 7:00 AM.
The final phase of this project includes streetscape work and landscaping. During the work, there will be lane restrictions on Route 28 northbound and southbound in the vicinity of the bridge during off-peak hours. The project will be complete by August 2011.
The Craigie Drawbridge carries McGrath O’Brien Highway (Route 28) between Land Blvd. in Cambridge and Leverett Circle in Boston. The Craigie Drawbridge Rehabilitation Project is part of the Patrick – Murray Administration’s historic Accelerated Bridge Program to repair structurally deficient bridges.
