Cambridge Participates in National Drive Electric Week

National Drive Electric Week, September 9-17, 2017, is a nationwide celebration to heighten awareness about today's widespread availability of plug-in vehicles and to highlight the benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid-electric cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more. Electric vehicles are fun to drive, less expensive, and more convenient to fuel than gasoline vehicles. They are also better for the environment, promote local jobs, and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

To celebrate National Drive Electric Week, the City of Cambridge is hosting two Electric Vehicle Test Drive Events in partnership with the New England Electric Auto Association and Drive Electric Cars New England:

Saturday, September 9th

Danehy Park, 67 Field St

Cambridge, MA 02138

2:30-6:30PM

The New England Electric Auto Association will host an EV/PHEV ride and drive event at Danehy Park. Several dealers, along with EV/PHEV owners, will be present to share ownership experiences and offer test drives. This is a great opportunity to test out an electric vehicle outside of the typical dealership setting. Refreshments will be served.

Drive Electric Cars New England will be hosting an electric car ride and drive event at Danehy Park in conjunction with Danehy Park Day. New 2018 EV models will be displayed, and XM Radio's comedian Pete Domnick will host a radio booth. EV/PHEV owners will also be present to share ownership experiences and offer test drives.

National Drive Electric Week began in 2011 as National Plug In Day with the simple idea to hold simultaneous events across the nation emphasizing one thing: Driving Electric! It has since expanded to an entire week, and is organized with the support of the Sierra Club, the Electric Auto Association, and Plug In America.
