As part of its Customer Intercept Survey Program for Cambridge’s commercial districts, the Community Development Department (CDD) will begin surveying Cambridge Street on September 16. The purpose of the Commercial District Customer Intercept Survey is to provide the Economic Development Division with a better understanding of what Cambridge residents and East Cambridge customers want in their commercial district. Having specific information about the different types of consumers in each commercial district will enable us to better assist entrepreneurs to find locations where their businesses can succeed; help current businesses owners understand the local market and help property owners recruit potential businesses to vacant storefronts. CDD has completed successful surveys in Porter, Central and Kendall Squares, and the results have informed the planning process for those areas.

East Cambridge surveying days and times have been scheduled from September 16-26, 2013 at different locations throughout the District. Surveys may also be picked up, filled out, and submitted at Atwoods Tavern (877 Cambridge St), New Deal Fish Market (622 Cambridge St) and Cambridge Art & Frame (101 First Street). We encourage you to snag a surveyor or pick up a survey at one of the retailers and give us your input on Cambridge Street!
