COOKING EQUIPMENT

The City of Cambridge, in accordance with the Massachusetts Comprehensive Fire Code 527 CMR section 1 including amendments to NFPA 1 2012 edition, enforces the following regulations. 

10.11.6.1 For other than a single-family dwelling, no hibachi, grill, or similar devices used for cooking, heating, or any other purpose shall be used or kindled (light or set on fire) on any balcony (a platform enclosed by a wall or balustrade on the outside of a building, with access from an upper-floor window or door), under any overhang portion, or within 10 ft. (3m) of any structure. 

10.11.6.2 For other than one-and two-family dwellings, no hibachi, grill, or similar devices used for cooking shall be stored on a balcony.
