Officers Eugene Bustillo, Frank Lange, Nicholas Mochi, Steven Murphy, Michael Padua, and Brendan Pasco were presented with the Outstanding and Distinguished Service Award by V.F.W. members at their meeting on April 9th.

The certificates were presented "In grateful recognition of unyielding adherence to the highest ideals of law enforcement in maintaining, preserving and protecting the lawful rights of citizens."

Over twenty members of the V.F.W. were in attendance, along with Cambridge Police Commissioner Robert C. Haas and members of his command staff.

Commissioner Haas addressed those in attendance, saying, "I’d like to thank the V.F.W. for recognizing our officers. It is a great honor from your organization that you are recognizing these public servants."

On August 22, 2012, the six officers honored by the V.F.W. rushed into a multi-unit apartment building which was engulfed in flames on Columbia Street in Cambridge. The officers rescued a man and woman trapped on the third floor as well as another man who was sleeping in the building. No one was injured.
