Thanks to a generous donation from the law firm of Breakstone, White & Gluck, P.C., 300 youth participants in the Cambridge CYCLE Kids program now have new helmets.Cycle Kids

“We are donating 750 helmets to various programs and we were very impressed by the CYCLE Kids program in Cambridge schools,” said Attorney David W. White.  “Contributing to safety programs which aim to prevent brain injuries in children is a priority for our firm, and the Cambridge CYCLE Kids program was a perfect fit.”

The helmets were presented to Theresa O’Connor’s physical education class at the Morse School in Cambridge on May 1, 2013 by Attorney David White, Carolyn Bailey of CYCLE Kids, and Cambridge Police Officer Simon Valentin.

Ms. O’Connor spoke about the Cycle Kids program, saying, “We have had very good success because of the police component.  Cambridge Police Officers come to help the students learn and the students never forget who taught them how to ride a bike!”

“Our goal is to be in every community across the country,” said Carolyn Bailey, member of the Board of Directors for CYCLE Kids.  “Cambridge is one of our first communities and its success has propelled us as we begin to grow the program nationwide.  We can’t thank the firm of Breakstone, White & Gluck enough for their donation as helmets are a key component of teaching children how to safely and responsibly ride their bikes.”Cycle Kids Officer Valentin

Since 2004, CYCLE Kids has been enabling kids to be active, healthy, and independent.  The program is now available in Cambridge, Somerville, parts of Boston, New York City, Texas, and beyond.
