Cambridge Man Arrested and Charged With Murder in Death of His Uncle

The following information was released by the Middlesex District Attorney's Office:

CAMBRIDGE – A Cambridge man has been arrested in connection with the death of his 73-year-old uncle, whose body was found in a Cambridge apartment late last night, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Robert Haas have informed the public.

Harold Antoine Maxwell, 34, of Cambridge, was arrested on November 26th without incident.

Maxwell was scheduled to be arraigned in Cambridge District Court on Wednesday, November 27, at 9am.

At approximately 11:50 p.m. on Monday, November 25, Cambridge police responded to 243 Broadway.  Upon their arrival they discovered a 73-year-old man, later identified as Jesse Maxwell, a resident of that apartment.  He appeared to have suffered severe physical injuries and was later pronounced dead. 

The Cambridge Police and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office initiated an investigation.  An autopsy was conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner earlier today and the cause of death was determined to be injuries to the head and compression of the neck and the manner of death was homicide.

The charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The prosecutor assigned to the case is Assistant District Attorney Nicole Allain.  The Victim Witness Advocate is Helena Clarke.
