Cambridge Police were dispatched to JFK Street for a person drinking alcohol on the premises. As a result of the investigation, Mahmoud Chabarek, 19, 3 Saint Johns Street, Cambridge, was placed under arrest for minor in possession of alcohol.

A Loss Prevention Officer for a Porter Square retail store reports he observed a 30-year-old white female place store merchandise into a plastic bag and attempt to leave the store without paying for the items. The female handed the bag to loss prevention when stopped at the door and fled into a nearby street. The value of the four items is $105.46.

Two residents of Thorndike Street reported unknown suspects stole their mail sometime between 8/11/2014 and 9/2/2014 while they were away on vacation. As a result of the stolen mail, the suspect obtained bank account information belonging to both victims and stole $2840 from one of them.

A resident of Newton reported that he was a victim of an attempted armed robbery on 9/24 around 12:50 p.m. located at a garage in Technology Square. Two white or possibly Hispanic males assaulted him with a metal pipe and attempted to steal his wallet, but they were unsuccessful.

Romel Augustin, 41, 87 New Street, Cambridge, was arrested for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. The victim positively identified him as the person who assaulted him with a baton. The incident was also captured on video surveillance.

James Killackey, 31, 66 Fifth Street, Cambridge, was arrested at the Gold Star Mother's Park on Gore Street. Officers observed Killackey sitting on a bench in the park with two females. Killackey took several sips from an open 40 ounce can of beer. He was placed under arrest for the above offense.

A Medford resident reported that while he was sitting in his 2008 Honda Accord, a group of young children that were playing in the street near his vehicle caused damage to the vehicle. As the group was playing they ended up damaging the right rear quarter panel of the vehicle. The victim followed one of the children he felt was responsible home to her residence.

PORTER SQ
An Arlington resident reported that their motor vehicle was broken into while it was parked in a Porter Square garage. Taken from the vehicle was a Samsung tablet owned by his employer. Access was gained into the motor vehicle through a broken front passenger window. Unknown value of the stolen item. No suspects or witnesses at this time.
