A Mass Ave. business manager reports receiving a phone call at 10:40 a.m. on 10/2 from a male impersonating NStar demanding payment or threatening immediate shut off of services. A debit card number and security information was provided before the victim realized it was a scam.

An employee of a temple in Cambridge called to report what he believed to be suspicious activity. He observed an unknown male taking pictures of a memorial in front of his synagogue. He then faced the building, kneeled and bowed several times in the direction of the synagogue.

A Somerville resident, who works in Cambridge, reported that this past Monday an unknown person operating a motor vehicle drove it in a manner that appeared as if she wanted to strike him with it. According to the victim this happened several times while he was riding his bicycle to work.

MASSACHUSETTS AVE
Cambridge Police responded to Massachusetts Ave. on the report that a man had stolen a cell phone and was becoming aggressive with staff. Officers spoke with Kevin McBride, 44, 56 Chestnut Street, Wakefield. It was learned that McBride was observed near a display of cell phones when the alarm sounded. The staff person went to reset the alarm, turned back towards the display and saw the phone was missing. He also observed McBride attempting to leave the premises with something secreted in his hand. The staff member stepped in front of McBride, observed that McBride had the phone cupped in his hand in an attempt to conceal it. The staff person asked "what do you have there?" McBride then dropped a pair of wire cutters on the floor and stated he didn't have anything. The police were then summoned. McBride was placed under arrest and was charged with the aforementioned offense.

A Cambridge resident observed a man having trouble with his card at an ATM machine. After a brief conversation, she agreed to deposit a check he wrote into her account. She in return withdrew cash and handed it to him. She then had an uneasy feeling and demanded the money back. The man told her he would see her at noon the next day and walked away.
