Cambridge Police Crime Analysis Unit Recognized By IACA

The 2000-2016 Crash Trends and Locations Report produced by the Cambridge Police Department Crime Analysis Unit was recently recognized by the International Association of Crime Analysts and awarded second place in the statistical report category of their annual analytical products contest.

The report looks at overall trends in crashes over the past 15 years in Cambridge requiring EMS transport to the hospital, crashes involving cyclists and pedestrians, and distribution of crashes. The findings of this report continue to play an integral part of the process in the development of the City’s Vision Zero action plan and initiative.

This is the third time in the past six years that a product of the Cambridge Police Department’s Crime Analysis Unit has been honored. Over the past 20 years, the Unit has received international awards on eight different occasions for its annual and statistical reports, crime bulletins and BridgeStat presentations. Each year, the IACA receives submissions for this contest from many departments around the world.

The award was presented during last month’s International Association of Crime Analysts 2017 Annual Training Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The conference had more than 550 attendees from 42 states, the District of Columbia and 15 countries.
