Investigation into Fatal Shooting

The Middlesex District Attorney's Office, Massachusetts State Police and Cambridge Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred tonight in the area of Tremont Street and Hampshire Street at approximately 7:30 p.m. One victim, Malachi Mims, 28, Cambridge, was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.


Community members wishing to assist this investigation should contact Massachusetts State Police Assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office at (781) 897-6600 or anonymously by text messaging Tip411 (847411) and begin your text with Tip650 and then type your message. You can also submit a tip anonymously via the MyPD app or call CPD's 24-hour anonymous Crime Hotline at 617-349-3359.

This is an open and ongoing investigation.  The victim's identity is being withheld at this time pending confirmation from the Medical Examiner's Office and next of kin notification.
