 April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. Here are events in our community to learn more about sexual violence and how you can support survivors. 

• April 11: A Multi- Disciplinary Response to Sexual Abuse Understanding and Addressing the Needs of Sexual Abuse Survivors with a Disability

10:00AM, the Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance (MOVA) is offering a free webinar training presented by the Sexual Assault Response Team at the Massachusetts Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC). The training introduces participants to the impact of sexual abuse perpetrated against persons with disabilities. Learn more and register for this event

• April 11: Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) Highlights the Importance of Consent

8:30PM Join MAPS for a live Facebook chat organized by the Brazilian Women’s Group about “Asking and Giving Consent: How Family Beliefs and Traditions Shape Our Relationships”. Community members can watch and participate by visiting facebook.com/BrazilianWomensGroup.

• April 21: Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC) 18^th Annual Walk for Change

8:30AM, join BARCC at the MA Department of Conservation & Recreation (DCR) Constitution Beach in East Boston for a walk to raise awareness and funds to support survivors of sexual violence. To register or donate to the Walk for Change

• April 24: Denim Day

Wear jeans to highlight misconceptions about sexual violence and show support for survivors. Learn more and participate

• April 26: MAPS Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (DVSA) Team Community Discussion
