DRAFT Cambridge Bicycle Network Plan Open House Dec. 4

Last spring, we asked people for ideas and input on what would make Cambridge the most bicycle friendly city on the planet. The response was tremendous: 730 people responded to the survey; 570 commented on the WikiMap; hundreds gave input to the paper map sessions throughout the city; and dozens attended the June Open House.

We took all that information, together with analytical data used to develop a Bicycle Level of Comfort Index, crash mapping, and project planning and implementation underway, to create a DRAFT Bicycle Network Priority Plan. The idea of this plan is that it will be used as the basis for where we need to focus our efforts in creating a more complete and bicycle friendly network to enable everyone – whether they are 8 or 80 years old – to be able to choose to bicycle comfortably and safely throughout the city.

In this phase of the Plan, we are asking you to review how we have gotten here, take a look at the DRAFT Priority Plan, and provide your feedback so we can see what people think works, or doesn’t, or where we may have missed some key priorities.

Stop by the Open House to take a look at all the materials and plans in detail, talk one-on-one with planners and peers, find out what’s happening with the city's 5 year Streets and Sidewalk Plan, and in general learn about what’s happening with bicycling in Cambridge Thursday, Dec. 4, 5-8 p.m., Cambridge College, Room 152, 1000 Mass. Ave.

This is an informal drop-in event, where people will be able to look at materials at their own pace and stay for as short or as long a time as desired. Written comments will be taken during the event.

Children are welcome and light snacks will be provided.
