Cambridge Civic Assembly on Public Safety Technologies
Cambridge is holding its first Civic Assembly between October - December 2026 to consider whether, how, and under what conditions the City should use gunshot-detection technology, such as ShotSpotter, and overnight video surveillance of public parks in its approach to public safety, including what rules, safeguards, and oversight should govern their use.

The City of Cambridge and Bluebikes offer discounted bike share memberships to income-eligible individuals aged 16+ who participate in qualifying public assistance programs OR who meet income guidelines (up to 400% of the federal poverty line), and who can't access the SNAP self-enrollment process.
