In this interactive workshop, we'll explore the story of Juneteenth, the oldest commemoration of the outlawing of slavery in the United States. Through stories, craft-making, and a Jubilee teach-in, we'll honor the joy and radical resistance of Black Americans then and now. This program can accommodate 45 people and is recommended for youth ages 6 and up and their caregivers.

JAS held an initial community meeting on January 14th, 2025 to introduce themselves and the project to the community. They are holding another community meeting on July 24th at 6 p.m. at 243 Broadway, Cambridge and via Zoom to present updated designs and to collect feedback. Cambridge GIS is all about Cambridge spatial data. We are constantly working on creating, maintaining, and delivering to our users the most accurate and reliable GIS datasets we can. We supply datasets, services, and applications to City staff, as well as to visitors to our website and other departmental sites which host our maps and apps.

The use of generative artificial intelligence has rapidly proliferated in daily life, from integration in search engines like Google to individuals seeking it out for mental health purposes. In this session, Digital Navigators will share information about how AI works, what chatbots are, how to use AI safely, and how to identify AI content. We will invite participants to discuss these topics along with interactive activities and reflections on how AI functions in our own lives. This class will be delivered by a DOORS program instructor. Join Cambridge Camping and the Cambridge Community Center for our first 2026 Village Building Series event: a live theater performance of Inventing Samanta (Our Ray of Hope) at the Cambridge Public Library. The play is performed by actors ages 19-26, following a group of high school students and exploring why - despite age, identity, or background - anyone can be an inventor. Presented by Central Square Theater's Youth Underground, with funding from Cambridge STEAM. This event is cosponsored by the Cambridge Public Library.

Continue building your machine-sewing skills AND create bespoke sewn crafts! In this session, you can choose from a menu of beginner projects including: an aprons or a flax seed filled heating pad. This session is led by fiber artist and designer Lenni Armstrong. Registration is required and participants must have completed Sewing 101 in The Hive. Prior attendance of programs such as Sewing Circle or Fiber Arts Adventure does not meet this requirement.
