Nearly 400 Cambridge households were issued payments just four weeks after the launch of the application period for Rise Up Cambridge, the City of Cambridge’s new $22 million cash assistance program.

The City of Cambridge today announced that the Thomas P. O'Neill Jr./Fresh Pond Golf Course will open for the season on Thursday, May 21 and Riverbend Park will be opened for the next two Sundays as part of a pilot program.

On May 1, 2023, the City Manager submitted the proposed Operating and Capital Budgets for Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24), as well as the proposed FY24-FY28 Operating and Capital Plans. The Operating Budget of $881,757,885 represents an increase of $80,306,015 or 10% over the FY23 Adopted Budget. The proposed Capital Budget is $185,206,905. The public is encouraged to review the budget document, which includes Consolidated Spending information across departments on key priority areas; City Council Goals; Key Initiatives for FY24 (Section I); narratives for each Department (Section V); and FY24 Capital projects (Section VI). There will be public hearings on the FY24 Budget at the City Council Finance Committee on Tuesday, May 9 at 9 a.m., Wednesday, May 10 at 6 p.m. (School Department), and Tuesday, May 16 at 10 a.m.

These leisurely walks blend local history, nature, and contemplative practices, with lots of time to pause and share. Participants are encouraged to bring their own neighborhood stories, discover something new, and build connections with people and places. The our final neighborhood walk through East Cambridge, launching from the lovely O'Connell Library. The walk will conclude at Elmendorf Baking Store & Cafe close to the library. What to bring: layered clothing, comfortable shoes and water. Where to meet: At the O'Connell Branch entrance. Registration is requested but not required.

This initiative is designed to support residents’ digital needs and will be funded by the Mass Broadband Institute and the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) in partnership with the MassHire Metro North Workforce Investment Board.

We will install pavement markings for a new separated bike lane, bus lanes, and turn-only lanes on Mt. Auburn Street between Brattle Street and Belmont Street. Work is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of April 22.
