Overview of City's COVID-19 Response
This month, City Manager Louis A. DePasquale and his staff provided a high-level overview of the City's COVID-19 response. While the presentation is not a comprehensive list of the extensive efforts undertaken to support our community over the past year, it provides significant insights into the work that City staff have been engaged in to meet community needs and keep core City services functioning.
The Importance of Our Senior Residents
Our senior residents are the pillars of our community. They have spent their lives building, nurturing, and contributing to the vibrant and diverse city we call home.
A Look at Two Federal Grants that Benefit Our Community
The City of Cambridge hosted two events this month to showcase the positive impact of federal grants such as the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnership Grant (HOME) to our community. Community development activities build stronger and more resilient communities. CDBG funds can be directed toward affordable housing, neighborhood revitalization, economic development, and public services that primarily serve low and moderate income residents.
New Parking Restriction Datasets
Working with the Traffic and Parking department, we’ve created six individual data sets containing different types of street parking restrictions (street occupancy permits for different reasons) and used those six sets and other parking data to create a master parking restriction data set.
CDD Will Host Public Comment Session for Utilization of HUD Grants
The Community Development Department will hold an information and public comment session in preparation of the City’s FY2026 Annual Action Plan and FY2026-2030 Consolidated Plan. The purpose of the session is to solicit public comments on affordable housing, economic development, public service and other community development needs as they relate to low and moderate-income Cambridge residents, and HOPWA qualifying residents across Middlesex and Essex counties.
Information Technology
The Information Technology Department (ITD) provides centralized technology services to support municipal operations, the Cambridge Open Data Program, The Geographical Information System, and the City websites.
Maple Ave Reconstruction Project
Maple Ave from Broadway to Cambridge St. is scheduled for reconstruction in 2024 as part of the City's Five Year Plan for Sidewalk and Street Reconstruction.
