An abatement is a reduction in the tax assessed annually on your motor vehicle. To dispute your valuation or assessment or to correct any other billing problem or error that caused your tax bill to be higher than it should be, you must apply for an abatement.

In response to community feedback, the Council on Aging is extending the Navigating Loss Conversational Group. Through the Cambridge Second Chance Program, members of the Cambridge Police Department’s Clinical Support Unit work with eligible residents and various partners through the Cambridge Community Court to seal their statutorily-eligible CORI (criminal offender record information) in order to help support long-term, unhoused residents who have not been able to secure housing due to their criminal records.

The annual awards program recognizes City employees for their extraordinary contributions to public service to peers, colleagues, and residents, above and beyond job requirements. All nominations are due Friday, April 28, 2023, by 12 p.m. Award recipients will be recognized at the Outstanding City Employee Award ceremony that has been rescheduled to Friday, June 9, at 9:30 a.m., in the Sullivan Chamber at Cambridge City Hall.

What Works Cities Certification represents the international standard of data excellence in city governance. Cambridge is the only New England city Certified at the Gold level in 2024, and one of two cities across the nation to achieve Gold level Certification three times (joining Washington, D.C.).

A business use sidewalk obstruction permit is required if you are a business in the City of Cambridge and want to use an “A” framed sign, sandwich board, display merchandise, temporary banner or use tables and chairs on a sidewalk in the public way.
