Celebrate Older Americans Month
Every May, the Cambridge Council on Aging (COA) recognizes Older Americans Month, a national campaign led by the federal Administration for Communal Living that recognizes older adults’ contributions to society. The 2026 theme, Champion Your Health, underscores prevention, wellness, and personal responsibility as the foundation of healthy aging.
Medication Takeback Day
Dispose of your medications safely at Medication Takeback Day at the North Cambridge Senior Center! The Cambridge Public Health Department, Cambridge Police Department, and Cambridge Council on Aging are hosting a Medication Takeback Event on Monday, September 14 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Open Our Doors Automatic Door Openers on Public Buildings
Many city buildings have heavy doors without automatic openers, often making access to these buildings a challenge. Touchless automatic door openers benefit those who are elderly, pregnant, using wheelchairs or walkers, pushing strollers, concerned about germs, or anyone who has their hands full.
Kids' Books for Everyone (O'Neill)
People of all ages who enjoy children's books can read and discuss together. Food will be provided. This month we will be reading and discussing The Beatryce Prophecy by Kate DiCamillo. Please pick up a copy of the book beforehand at the O'Neill Branch Library.
This book group will meet in person at the O'Neill Branch Library. Please register below.
Death Cafe CPL
Join us for a virtual Death Cafe - an evening of open, lively, and insightful discussion about death for adults aged 18 and older.
While not a support group nor a venue for bereavement, a Death Cafe seeks to provide an unscripted, non-judgmental platform for those wishing to explore the many facets of this often taboo subject. Facilitated by Richard Davis, a long time Death Cafe organizer and hospice volunteer.
Come with an open mind, a healthy curiosity, and a willingness to share your thoughts, feelings, and questions with other like-minded individuals.
This is a virtual event on Zoom. Space is limited.
Questions? Contact the Library Social Worker, Brett Dixon, at bdixon@cambridgema.gov.
