Join the Cambridge Public Health Department, the Community Safety Department, and the Cambridge Public Library for a panel discussion that aims to raise awareness and community knowledge about how to access national, state, and local resources. Attendees will hear from representatives with the Samaritans, the Community Safety Department (CARE team), and the Community Behavioral Health Center. Through the Cambridge Energy Helpline (617-430-6230), callers get connected to a trained adviser who can explain cost-saving programs, from fuel assistance and discount utility rates to solar credits and no-cost energy assessments. Support is available to renters, homeowners, and landlords alike—regardless of building type.

“Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” is in order of importance. It is better to reduce than reuse; better to reuse than recycle. Reducing and reusing prevent the environmental impact of making new items. All disposal has financial costs to the city. Recycling and composting cost the City less than trash. Still, preventing waste in the first place is best for Cambridge and the environment. It is one of the key recommendations in the Cambridge Zero Waste Master Plan.

For example, you might see a recipe video, a local news clip, and a friend's photo, while someone else might see a sports highlight, a sneaker review, and a travel vlog. In this session, Digital Navigators will share insights into how that happens, who decides, and what controls you actually have over social media algorithms and data sharing. The Department of Public Works and the City's Community Development Department will be hosting an on-site Community Meeting on Wednesday, June 4 from 4-6 p.m. Anyone interested in attending can meet project staff at the corner of Chetwynd Road and Newell Street to discuss the Chetwynd Road Reconstruction Project.
