Liane Brandon’s photographs of the historic International Women’s Day March of 1970 and the Boston Women’s March of 2017 will be on exhibit. The photographs of the International Women's March are of great historical impact and are, additionally, beautiful works of art in and of themselves. Join the Collins Branch Library in collaboration with the Cambridge Climate Leaders Initiative for a monthly discussion of a climate-related topic. Each month the group will discuss a book on the topic at hand then hear about a related local program or initiative and how you can take action. Books have been reserved for the group and may be picked up at Collins. The Community Safety Department’s CARE Team launched in 2024, providing an unarmed, compassionate response to mental health crises, well-being checks, and other non-criminal emergencies. By the end of the year, they responded to nearly 200 emergency calls, assisted over 150 community members, and removed 1,600 needles from public spaces, with 94% of calls requiring no police involvement. In collaboration with local organizations and the Cambridge Police Department, the CARE Team also offers case management and referrals, helping residents access shelter, addiction treatment, housing support, and other essential services.

Sandra Boynton's simple yet poignant counting book Hippos Go Berserk and Maurice Sendak's timeless classic Where the Wild Things Are may leave you hungry for a bedtime snack! Music of Heinrich Biber and Nicola Matteis performed on violin and theorbo/baroque guitar. No registration required. Children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult. This program will replace Valente's weekly Sing-Along on Tuesday, June 9.

CDD has completed its annual update to the stock of affordable housing units in the city. There are now 9,021 affordable housing units in the city, a net increase of 90 affordable units from the 2024 total of 8,931 units.

Cambridge promotes sustainable transportation through education, community workshops, planning, and infrastructure projects. Resident volunteers can provide input on transportation projects. The City is investing in Electric Vehicle infrastructure and adding more fully electric vehicles to its fleet.

Thousands of Cambridge residents are losing or at risk of losing their SNAP (formerly food stamps) benefits and MassHealth insurance because of federal policy changes that introduce new immigration and work requirements. The City of Cambridge, Cambridge Economic Opportunity Committee (CEOC), the Cambridge Community Foundation, and more than 30 other community-based organizations created a coordinated system to help Cambridge residents understand these changes, re-enroll in benefits if they are still eligible, and access important resources.
