Two Cambridge Department of Public Works employees were honored with the Ruth and Carl F. Barron Family Achievement Award on October 27, 2015 at DPW headquarters located at 147 Hampshire Street in Cambridge.

Owen O’Riordan, Commissioner of Public Works, recognized Ademir Pinto and Donald Hockman at a small ceremony attended by their peers.

Pinto, an HVAC Technician in the Building Maintenance Division, received this recognition because of how he effectively performs a wide variety of maintenance and repair tasks relating to the operation of heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems in buildings.  He joined DPW in August 2011.

“Ademir possesses commendable skills that can be easily observed by building occupants at the DPW, as well as those around the City,” said Commissioner O’Riordan.  “He is a team player with a good attitude and is dedicated to exhibiting high quality in all that he does.”

Donald Hockman, Facilities Supervisor at the Cambridge Senior Center, was honored because of the level of his work and outstanding communications skills which he uses to continually provide the staff and users of the Senior Center with excellent customer service.  Hockman has served in this position since May 1999.

“Donald demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness, and problem-solving practices consistently in his oversight of the facility, the staff, and the patrons of the Senior Center.” said Commissioner O’Riordan.  “He cares for the people and their comfort.

The Ruth and Carl F. Barron Family Achievement Award, established in 1992, is, “Presented in recognition of outstanding productivity, distinguished performance and service to the City if Cambridge and Department of Public Works.”  Mr. Barron, a fixture in Cambridge, was an enthusiastic supporter of the City of Cambridge and the Department of Public Works.
