Traffic Pattern Change Notice: Standish Street traffic flow will be REVERSED (towards Huron Avenue), 24- hours a day, and will continue in this direction until further notice.

Signs will be posted to direct vehicles through this traffic change, which is expected to last a few months in duration. You will receive an additional notification when the traffic is reversed back to the original northbound pattern. Construction day parking restrictions and traffic detours will continue to be signed on a daily basis. We ask that you take extra care when driving down this street and obey all traffic and parking signs. On-street parking will still be allowed during this time. Project Background

Huron Ave Contract A, Huron Ave Contract B and  the Concord Ave Contract are part of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority’s (MWRA) Long Term Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Control Plan for the Alewife Brook. Sewer separation and stormwater management in these contract areas will separate existing combined sewers and provide dedicated sanitary sewers and stormwater drains.

About The Design

The principal goals of this project are to improve water quality in the Alewife Brook by eliminating combined sewer overflows; protect Fresh Pond Reservoir from potential contaminants; and, control the occurrences of street flooding and sewer and stormwater backups on public and private properties. Prior to beginning design, building and system investigation for the entire project area will be undertaken by the City’s consultants. Investigations will attempt to determine how and where discharges from the sanitary sewer, sump pump, yard drain, driveway drain, stairwell drain and roof drains leave private property. The design of the infrastructure work will include upgrades of water, cable, gas, electric as part of these contracts.

The City will work with the community in developing an approach to surface improvements that address pedestrian, vehicular, landscaping, and environmental concerns. Community meetings will be held to discuss neighborhood concerns and potential design solutions.

Huron Avenue

As part of the Huron B project, Huron Avenue, from Concord Ave to Fresh Pond Parkway, will be full reconstructed.  The City's Community Development Department will manage the community process for Huron Avenue.  For more information, please visit the Huron Avenue webpage.
