An analysis of the serious crime statistics for the first quarter of 2024 points to essentially no change in the Part One index total for Cambridge when compared with the first quarter of 2023. Through April 1 of 2024, there were 667 serious crimes reported in the City. For the same time period in 2023, the combined total for Murder, Rape, Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Burglary, Larceny & Auto theft was 670 incidents, just three incidents more. However, despite currently being level with last year, a 15% rise in the crime index has still been registered when measured against the five-year weighted average.

Further analysis of the crime totals for the first three months of 2024 indicates that violent crimes recorded a 28% decrease when compared to last year. There were zero homicides, eight rapes, 20 robberies, and 41 aggravated assaults recorded through April 1 of this year.
