The Seas Are Rising and So Are We: XR Mass(achusetts) Boat Making Workshop for the Cambridge Stream Festival

Learn how to fold a simple paper boat while hearing more about what Extinction Rebellion (XR) is doing to respond to the global climate emergency and demand climate justice. For XR, these simple paper boats have become symbols of vulnerability, resiliency, and our shared journey through stormy seas towards safe harbor and a more equitable world. #ChartAJustCourse. Bring your ideas, hopes, recycled paper and something to write with; find out how your boats can carry messages out into the world. The video workshop will be posted Thursday June 4; please check back.

After participating in the workshop, we invite you to post photos of your boats with XR messages such as: The Sea Is Rising and So Are We, Rise Together, Save Our Species (SOS), Chart a Just Course, Declare Climate Emergency, Tell the Truth, and Justice for All.

Our Boat Project is part of a larger campaign called by XR UK to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the International April Rebellion that closed down the commercial heart of London for several days. The Boat Project is just one of many art projects you can get involved with by joining the rebellion. More information at https://bit.ly/36Ucilt

Nature is great at solving problems. This is why scientists and engineers often use biology to inspire their research and solutions in a field called biomimicry. In this activity, you will explore how the study of fish can help us create more energy-efficient boats and underwater vehicles. Join the MIT Museum for three great activities you can do from home to learn more about water and how it works!
