Join the Cambridge Pedestrian Committee and the MIT List Visual Arts Center for a public art walk! Led by Yuri Stone, Assistant Curator of the List Center, the walking tour will highlight a selection of MIT’s extensive, world-renowned public art collection across the campus, both indoors and out. We will see a large-scale floor installation by Sol LeWitt, a number of architecturally-integrated site-specific artworks by Kenneth Noland and Antony Gormley, and works by Louise Nevelson, Alexander Calder, Mark di Suevero, and Anish Kapoor, among others. Participants will also learn about the unique percent-for-art program at MIT, the process involved in commissioning public artworks, and forthcoming projects that will be realized on campus in the next 5 years. Afterwards, visit the List Visual Arts Center, free and open to the public.
The walk will start at the List Center, which is located at 20 Ames Street, and end at the Collier Memorial, near the intersection of Main Street and Vassar Street. The walk is free and no registration is required - just show up and enjoy!
