Graphic Design & Communications Internship

Reporting to CDD’s Communications Manager, the selected candidate will provide graphic and design support to the department’s communications campaigns. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Creating basic layouts/design templates for postcards, posters, brochures, flyers, reports, and other materials
  • Developing branding for multi-platform communications campaigns
  • Designing original graphics, icons, and other materials to represent CDD programs and initiatives

Outreach & Engagement Intern

The Environmental and Transportation Planning Division is currently seeking a part time Outreach & Engagement intern who will assist with events, youth programming, and engagement materials. The selected candidate will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks with a focus on outreach and engagement of the community on issues of sustainable transportation, energy efficiency and climate change.

Planning Data Internship

The Cambridge Community Development Department is currently seeking a part time Planning Information Analysis Intern who will work under the direction of the Senior Planning Information Manager.  The intern will collaborate with the divisions of the Community Development Department and gain exposure to a wide variety of planning related data. Topics may include general demographics, housing, journey to work, land use, and economic development, depending on current needs.  A major project will be designing, assembling, and completing a Statistical Profile of Cambridge, using a combination of open data, web‐based data visualization tools, and Microsoft Excel workbooks.  Past interns have been instrumental in developing and revising the Department’s data profile series, including the Neighborhood Profile, Housing Profile, and the Moving Forward journey to work report.

Transportation Data Internship

This intern will be responsible for a wide variety of data analysis tasks related to the Parking and Transportation Demand Management (PTDM) Ordinance, a national model for improving mobility and access, reducing congestion and air pollution, and increasing safety by promoting walking, bicycling, public transit, and other sustainable modes. Duties will focus on monitoring and compliance, as well as data entry, analysis, and visualization.
