The Cambridge Public Library STEAM Academy, in partnership with local non-profit organization Innovators for Purpose (iFp), is launching Passion & Pathways Talks, a free webinar series for teens.

On select Thursdays from 3:30-5:30 pm, teens will have the opportunity to learn from designers, scientists, engineers, business professionals and others, who will share the stories and pathways to their careers. Speakers will address questions such as: "What’s most interesting about your job? What was your pathway to your field? What skills are needed to pursue work in your field?" Teens can ask follow-up questions to get an insider's view of possible career paths.

Teens can register to attend each talk in the series on the Cambridge Public Library’s website.

If you are a designer, engineer, technologist, scientist, business professional or work in any cross-discipline and you are interested in speaking to teens as a part of this series, please complete this form.

This series is hosted by the teens of the CPL STEAM Academy, who before the COVID-19 closure had been meeting in-person at the Library to hone their skills on real design and engineering projects. They conceived Passions & Pathways as a way to continue this work virtually. To support them, the Library has provided each student with a Macbook and high-end creative software.

Funding for the STEAM Academy is generously provided by the City of Cambridge, Cambridge Trust, Cambridge Public Library Foundation, the Margret and H.A Rey Curious George Fund, Eric and Jane Nord Family Fund, and Verizon. Additional funding for STEAM at the Library programs has been provided by Friends of the Cambridge Public Library, Google and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
